Richard Orlinski’s lion raises its head to roar. To amplify this roar, the sculptor has imagined a silhouette stretched forward, guiding our eye right up to the lion’s mouth and its powerful jaws with long, sharp canines.
As it sits, the lion seems to be resting, yet vigilant: ears alert, eyes open, muzzle on the alert. His neck is sculpted with a thousand facets of irregular size and shape. The hollows draw in the shadow, while the reliefs shimmer in the light.
Beneath his neck, the facets diminish and enlarge to highlight the muscles of his torso, his flexed hind legs and his outstretched front legs. His tail, curled up against his left hind leg, seems ready to swing.
For this edition, the artist has chosen a metallic silver finish that enhances the sculpture’s play of light, emphasizing its elegance and strength.
